THE WRITE TIME TEENS ‘N TWENTIES WRITERS CONFERENCE

BLOOMINGTON, IN (March 15) – The publishing world always seeks new, young authors, songwriters and journalists. On April 11, these young writers will gather with authors, editors, publishers and literary agents at an innovative writer’s conference specifically designed for them.

The Write Time Teens ‘N Twenties Writers Conference take place Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Ivy Tech College in Bloomington. Writers from 12 to 29, and then some, will mingle with peers, featured authors and book industry brass on a day featuring 16 workshops, a publishing panel discussion, book signings and a “Meet & Greet” event.

“We’ve concerned ourselves with the educational side of writing and publishing in our business, and now, we’re going to fully honor the present and future by giving younger writers a conference of their own,” conference director Paul Burt of Pen & Publish said. “They will receive the same high degree of experience-oriented input at our workshops and panel discussion that older authors receive at writer’s conferences throughout the country.”

Topics for workshops include novel building, getting published, building a daily writing life, magazine journalism, playwriting, songwriting, universalizing personal experience, online writing and marketing, memoir, and writing fiction and non-fiction that reflects social issues.

Workshop presenters will come from all parts of the country. The 16 presenters include New York Times bestselling authors Dee Carpender and Bob Hammel, literary agent and Capitol City Young Writers president Verna Dreisbach, Bloom magazine publisher Malcolm Abrams, Women Writing for (a) Change founder Beth Lodge-Rigal, educator-author Dee Burt, The Second Story managing director Jim Walker and Writing Unlimited founder Michelle Henderson.

“Every one of us has enjoyed success in our writing. Now, we’re helping what might be the most talented and driven group of teen-twenties writers we’ve seen in America since the 1960s,” conference keynote speaker and The Write Time author Bob Yehling said. “I’m really looking forward to the personalities, writing and networking that will be prevalent at this conference.”

Following the introductory keynote, attendees will participate in workshop sessions that last 75 minutes apiece. During lunch, Paul Burt will lead a panel discussion of publishers on present and future publishing opportunities. Literary agent Verna Dreisbach will be meeting with authors seeking to market their work. After the formal conference ends, the two-hour “Meet & Greet” will feature book signings by Hammel, Yehling and The Write Time co-author Melissa Jenkins, an open mic reading by conference participants, and live music.

Early bird registration for The Write Time Teens ‘N Twenties Conference will continue through March 25, at the discount price of $85. After March 25, the price will move to $99. Discount lodging is also available at the Homewood Suites by Hilton, the official hotel headquarters of the conference.
