TO A COLLAPSING MAN
Every time you plunge into the hole
of collapsed dreams, loves and memories,
I want to jump in with you,
grab you, shake you, tell you all is OK
But you won’t listen.
You won’t believe yourself.
You’ll just dive further
in your bid to escape
the churning sea of a life
that keeps getting away from you
even though your heart and soul
belong on a mantle
beneath shining lights
in a public exhibition
where the starving people of our time
can sense what authentic love
and caring feels like.
I only hope your eyes
absorb the same reflections
I see. I hope they stir your heart
so you can seize back your light,
recapture pieces of those dreams, loves and memories
and, with your soul’s craftiwork,
create a new portrait
that lifts you from the gravitas
of your broken hopes
and gives you back to us,
Great Man. We’ll receive you fully.
