WRITES OF LIFE NOMINATED FOR BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AWARD
Robert Yehling’s Writes of Life: Using Personal Experiences in Everything You Write has been nominated for the prestigious Benjamin Franklin Award. The award goes out to books whose cover design and content create the best presentation of subject material. Winners will be announced during the Bookesellers Expo of America, which takes place May 31-June 3 in New York City.

Published in 2006, Writes of Life is used by current and prospective authors of all levels of experience throughout the country, as well as students. Among the titles also nominated are Reggie & Ryssa, the flagship novel in Bo Savino’s young adult fantasy series.

THE VOICE RECEIVES PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY RECOMMENDATION
The Voice, Robert Yehling’s forthcoming novel, has been noted by Publisher’s Weekly as a recommended spring read. It will be available in bookstores nationwide on June 1.

Published by Koboca Publishing, The Voice presents the relationship between a rock music legend and his two daughters—one of whom sings with him on a smashing reunion tour to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love, the other who reappears in his life after a long absence. The intricacies of relationship, love, loss, hope and redemption are set against the grain of 40 years of the American music scene. The novel, which includes lyrics from nearly 100 original songs, will also spin off numerous interactive website activities.

Robert Yehling will read and sign at stores and various locations throughout the country, beginning in June. Orders are being taken now for advance signed copies.

Thus far, the series includes The Love Hunter, by Arizona-based poet Meg Files; Pieces of Gathered Light, by New Jersey-based poet John Martin; Freedom of Vision, an anthology edited by Stephen Gladish and Robert Yehling; and two collections by Robert Yehling, Coyotes in Broad Daylight and Shades of Green.

GRIST FOR THE PEN
FINISH YOUR WRITING DAY HOT!
When your writing session nears its end, don’t sprint to a hasty finish. Rather, write until you arrive at a particularly juicy, poignant, steamy or dramatic moment, then stop. Carry the light, heat or gravity of the moment in your mind and body until the next day, when you sit down and resume. Finishing hot is one of the greatest antidotes for writer’s block and tired writing.

THEY SAID IT: The Hard Work of Writing
“Writing involves a combination of ditch-digging, mountain climbing, treadmill and childbirth.”
