Writes of Life receiving rave reviews
In the four months since its release, Writes of Life: Using Your Personal Experiences in Everything You Write (Koboca: $10.95) has received strong support from new and experienced fiction and non-fiction writers, writing teachers, therapists and life coaches alike.
The latest accolade comes from Midwest Book Review and The Bookshelf, a newsletter for the nation’s librarians: “Robert Yehling deftly guides aspiring writers through the process of using their own (and others’) true life experiences by deliberately incorporating them into their writing style. A very strongly recommended and instructive resource and reference for writers searching for greater and easier expression through their authorship and compositions, Writes of Life comprehensively and logically approaches the intricate art and medium of writing and in doing so has much to offer even the more experienced author.”

Coming Soon: Coyotes in Broad Daylight
Bob Yehling’s Coyotes in Broad Daylight, will be released by Koboca Publishing in December 2006. More than 50 all-new poems, song-poems and essays are featured in this collection, which loosely explores the faces, masks and covers of our society and our daily lives. Bob will preview the collection at the joint reading with Harvey Stanbrough Sept. 22 in Evansville, IN; also listen for audio readings on www.kobocapublishing.com later in the fall.
Sense-ual Writing featured in October Science of Mind magazine
The October issue of Science of Mind magazine will feature Bob Yehling’s article on “Sense-ual Writing,” a core element in his Writes of Life workshop program and accompanying book. “Sense-ual Writing” takes off from Rudolf Steiner’s conclusion that we have 12 physical senses – not five – and shows how writers and diarists/journal writers can use the senses, and their deepest memories, to bring out the greatest truths and stories in their writing. This is the fourth writing-related article Bob has penned for Science of Mind.

Grist for the Pen: Tips
• Attempts and struggles aren’t to be lionized; they’re just a means to an end. The atmosphere at writer’s conferences and workshops buzzes with tales of writers trying to finish, trying to get over the hump and complete their works. Transform your tale of struggle into a tale of having finished; then it truly becomes a great story.
• The first and most important aspect of finishing is our daily writing practice. Be sure to find a rhythm that allows you to write for the long haul, from chapter one until the end. A good analogy is that of a marathon runner. Pace yourself and keep moving. Minimize outside distractions. Prepare yourself to write when you sit down. Let the creative dream take over.
From Writes of Life, by Robert Yehling
They Said It
“The test of a book is how much good stuff you can throw away.”
– Ernest Hemingway
“Reporting is all about gathering all the little things that help bring the big things to life. You have to be around, hang out, to write your story.”
Tom Wolfe
