THIRTY THOUGHTS    <return to contents

Bedtime
“You're the dearest mother,”
My little girl said
When I tucked her into bed.

“You have green eyes like Me-Me cat,
Then they are gray like Grandpa’s hat.
And when you wear your dress so blue
Your eyes look just like Auntie’s do.

“I like your hair so brown and bright,
I’ll think of you all through the night:
I shall be good and always try
Never, never to make you cry.”

“You're the dearest mother,”
My little girl said
When I tucked her into bed.
