THIRTY THOUGHTS    <return to contents

The Cycle
Spring came smiling into the room,
Daffodils had stolen the gloom
      Of winter.

Summer drowsed and glowed and died
While grasses, shrugs and flowers sighed
       For spring.

Autumn shown in clothes of red
Yellow brightened the faded spread
       Of summer.

Laughing spring leaped to the casement
For time and sun had brought abatement
       To winter.
