Evaluation
and Story Consultation
From the onset of your story idea to completed manuscript, we work with
you to develop your story, characters, plots and subplots. We evaluate
partial and completed manuscripts to provide guidance on filling in plot
holes and showcasing the center of your story. Consultations available
via phone or email. Evaluations include 4-8 page written reports on all
elements of your fiction or non-fiction works. We also work with series
and trilogies.
Editing
Services
Page-by-page content and copyediting of your manuscript. Includes red-line
editing, enabling you to see recommended changes against the original
writing, and consultation with us throughout the editing process. It’s
as easy as signing on and emailing us the chapters! We work with all types
of fiction and non-fiction, plus memoirs, poetry and essay and short story
collections.
Book
Proposals & Synopses
The manuscript is the first part of a book sale. The second part is the
book proposal or synopsis. If you’re an unpublished writer, or if
you’re switching from fiction to non-fiction, you will need a proposal
to sell a book; if you’re a fiction writer, you will need a synopsis.
The book proposal is essentially a business plan for your non-fiction
book; the synopsis is an encapsulated, 4-10 page summary of your novel.
Our book proposal services include:
- Consultation on development of proposal or synopsis
- Work with author on all proposal elements – introduction, bio, on-the-shelf, production details, marketing-promotions platform, chapter summaries, sample chapters
- Assist author with locating an agent most appropriate to represent their work
- Editing, proofreading and final tweaking of proposal or synopsis
- Assistance with development, writing and editing of sample chapters
Promotion
and Publicity
The third key element of selling a non-fiction book is your platform:
Why are you the right person to write a particular book? What are your
credentials? How can you promote the book with and apart from the publisher?
How connected are you to the core audience of your book? How can you reach
them?
All of these questions must be answered for the marketing and promotions
staff of a major publisher to feel comfortable in tending a contract for
